Course aim
The course is designed to enable participants to safely work on or near electrical apparatus by providing them with the knowledge and skills to understand arc flash, its risks and methods of mitigation.
Target learner group
The target learners for this course are employees currently working within the Australian Electricity Supply Industry.
This includes:
- Electricians, engineers, maintenance personnel
- Staff working near electrical hazards (e.g. cleaners, labourers, management)
- Contractors working on/near electrical systems
- Safety officers, first responders, and incident response teams
Learning outcomes
- Understand the risks and hazards associated with arc flash
- Learn safe work techniques near arc flash zones
- Identify and implement safety boundaries & PPE requirements
- Gain insight into how arc flash occurs and how to mitigate it
- Understand standards, regulations and human factors involved
