Emergency Response Plans
Worksafe Australia requires that persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) must ensure that an emergency plan is prepared for the workplace.
Thomson Bridge has significant experience in the development of emergency response plans for our clients’ sites in the electricity supply industry.
An emergency plan is a written set of instructions that outlines what workers should do in an emergency, including the following:{row}{col7}
- emergency procedures, including an effective response to an emergency
- evacuation procedures
- notifying emergency service organisations at the earliest opportunity
- medical treatment and assistance
- effective communication between the person authorised to coordinate the emergency response and all people at the workplace
- testing of the emergency procedures—including the frequency of testing
- information, training and instruction to relevant workers in relation to implementing the emergency procedures.
Key processes in which Thomson Bridge have expertise and experience are:
- Audit of current emergency response arrangements in place
- Facilitating or participating in risk assessment workshops to determine and document which emergencies should be planned for and why
- Writing organisational or site based policy and procedures aligned to AS3745 -2010 Australian Standard for Planning for Emergencies in Facilities
- Forming Emergency Planning Committees and developing their purpose and terms of reference
- Developing detailed site-specific emergency response plans
We can also train your workforce in emergency response, making sure each worker knows and understands their role in a stressful emergency situation, and have the knowledge and skills to peroform key roles such as plant isolation, fire-fighting, and first aid.
Our training programs include emergency scenario drills onsite to test plans and capability and are mappred to nationally accredited Units of Competency.

An Emergency Response Plan
