UET30521 – Certificate III in ESI – Transmission Overhead

Description

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to work in the electricity supply industry (ESI) as an Overhead Transmission Lineworker.
This qualification covers work on transmission overhead powerlines, including the installation, inspection and maintenance of towers, poles, structures, conductors and hardware.

The application of the skills and knowledge described within the units in this qualification may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace.
Other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this qualification.

Start Dates

Proposed start dates would be mid next year to allow the students some on the job experience before starting their official training and it would be 1 week block each year as below:

Year 1 [2026 – 5 days training June/July]

  • UETDREL004 – Operate plant and equipment in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus
  • UETDRTO007 – Install and maintain transmission structures and hardware
     

Year 2 [2027 – 5 days training June/July]

  • UETDRTO006 – Install and maintain transmission conductors

Year 3 [2028 – 5 days training June/July]

  • UETDRTO005 – Inspect transmission structures, conductors and hardware

Year 4 [2029 – 5 days training June/July]

  • UETDRTO004 – Inspect and maintain transmission overhead network

Learners are required to have the following to participate in this course:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (e.g. Hard Hat, Safety Footwear, Approved Hi-Vis Clothing, Safety Glasses)
  • Heights equipment (e.g. Harness, ascender, descender, as per company procedures)
  • Stationary (e.g. Pen, Pencil, etc.)

Assessment approach

Learners will be assessed using a combination of the following methods:

  • Theory/Written Assessment (e.g. Short Answer Questions, Multiple Choice, Verbal Questioning Interview)
  • Direct Observation/Practical Assessment (e.g. Workplace, Simulated Environment, Role Play/Scenario)
  • Portfolio (e.g. Logbook, Third Party Reports)

Course Entry Requirements

This qualification does not contain any formal entry requirements, but there are pre-requisite requirements at a unit level and RelyOn Australia has local entry requirements;

Candidates for this qualification must:

  • Have finished or left secondary school with passes in Maths, English and Physics preferred
  • Be currently employed within the transmission industry or in a role relevant to this qualification in order to achieve the qualification workplace on-the-job training requirements
  • Be at least 18 years old

Accreditation Status

Nationally recognised training.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a qualification.
