The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of protection system fundamentals.
Please note, this is a non-accredited course and upon successful completion, learners will receive a Certificate of Completion – Protection Fundamentals.

In this course, participants will develop the skills and knowledge as stipulated in the following:

  • The effects short circuits and overloads have on a system
  • The primary purpose of a protection relay
  • Support systems a protection relay requires
  • The meaning of speed, reliability, and selectivity in protection systems
  • The meaning of ‘protection zones’

Operators, staff and contractors in the broader electrical industry.
