
Background
ElectraNet owns and operates over $2.5 billion of electricity transmission assets that transport electricity over long distances and to remote areas. A critical part of the electricity supply chain is ElectraNet’s transmission network which delivers safe and reliable electricity supply to South Australia.
During 2015, ElectraNet embarked on a comprehensive review and update of its Switching Manual. All supporting training and licensing mechanisms were also updated as part of this process.
Our role
Thomson Bridge was appointed by ElectraNet to provide the following services:
Develop and implement “Pre Launch” training to over 600 participants from the South Australian Switching Community
Develop a comprehensive curriculum for Initial and Refresher High Voltage Switching training that involved:
- Implementation of a Switching related Recognition of Prior Learning framework, meaning accreditation, experience and authorisations from other entities can be recognised.
- alignment of training curriculum to national High Voltage Switching Training Competency standards to ensure consistency of training for all; and
Thomson Bridge continues to deliver Switching training to the South Australian Switching Community on behalf of ElectraNet. Refer to Courses for details and our training calendar.
