Rail Traction Sector
We design and deliver training for workers operating trackside, for engineers planning constructions works and interfacing with the network owners, for work parties undertaking isolations and HV switching in substations, signals or overhead lines, and for control room operators managing the electrical operations.
Our Rail Industry courses are designed so that workers can:
- Administer first aid and first response in rail environments
- Operate safely near live electrical apparatus
- Operate plant safely in the rail corridor
- Understand network Electrical Safety Rules
- Make applications, apply and receive permits
- Perform High Voltage switching operations for overhead lines, substations, signals
- Install, maintain and approve underground cable installations and jointing connections
- Install and maintain overhead lines
- Respond to construction schedules, handovers, occupations, maintenance activities
- Operate in control rooms where electrified network and plant is monitored and controlled
- Diagnose and respond to critical network events and faults
We offer pathways to achieve the UET30719 Certificate III in ESI – Power Systems – Rail Traction.
Programs are designed to accommodate the specific requirements of each cohort and incorporate instructor led class room and virtual theory, self paced study and virtual tutorials, practical workshops, verification of competency and on-the-job experience evidenced by eLogBooks.
