RPL and Bridging Programs
RPL or recognition of Current Competency is a valuable assessment pathway that recognises the skills, knowledge and experience gained through work and life experience as well as formal and on the job training.
An RPL process is a valuable strategy for staff recognition, reward and retention. It can result in the direct award of national recognised Units of Competency and full Qualifications, or can the vital first step on a pathway leading to attaining new or higher qualifications.
Thomson Bridge has used RPL successfully to fulfil outcomes such as:
- Benchmarking an internal training program to a national qualification
- Recognising the skills of a workforce that has been trained outside the national training system
- Reduce the need for overtraining by recognising the skills and knowledge of someone so that only targeted gap training is required
- Simplify cross-sector re-training by examining how skills from one qualification or role match up with the requirements of a similar role in a different industry.
Auspice and RPL program members include AGL Energy, Alinta Energy, Ausnet Services, Delta Energy, Origin Energy, Stanwell Corporation.
